Shoutout to the club pro at Riverside who told me our bonus hole was built wrong on purpose
I was helping set pins at Riverside Municipal in Tulsa two weekends back and our pro mentioned the bonus hole near the 12th green was built at an odd angle on purpose. I asked why and he said the club added it in 1998 for tiebreakers and made it 92 yards with a tilted tee box so nobody could dial in a stock wedge shot. The board wanted the hole to reward feel over distance, so they sloped the tee and tucked the cup behind a mound on the left. I always figured it was just lazy construction, but it turns out the weird look is the point. Now I want to know how many other clubs did this on purpose. Does your bonus hole have odd yardage or a trick tee box, and did anyone ever tell you why?
