Think people are crazy for preferring gas grills after cooking on my Weber kettle for 3 years

I got this Weber kettle at a garage sale for 20 bucks back in 2021 and honestly I think charcoal blows gas out of the water. Last weekend my neighbor brought over his fancy 800 dollar gas grill for burgers and they just didn't have that smoky flavor. I mean maybe it's just me but why spend all that money when a cheap kettle gives way better results?

Am I the only one who thought sous vide was just for fancy restaurants?

Overheard a line cook at a diner say he uses a $40 immersion circulator to make perfect cheap steaks at home, and I tried it last weekend on a chuck roast. Never going back to guessing doneness on a pan again - anyone else convert to this for weeknight dinners?

He told me he'd rather lose a sale than let the bank track what he spends on his own family's groceries. Do we really want a system where some guy selling apples has to sacrifice his privacy just to keep up with modern payments?

Tried an AI music generator for my podcast intro last week

I spent 4 hours fiddling with Suno to make a 15 second intro track for my hiking podcast, but every version sounded like elevator music mixed with a dying robot. The lyrics were supposed to say "trail vibes" but it came out as "trail vides" no matter how I typed it. Has anyone actually gotten a decent song out of these things for real use?

Switched from store-bought soil to mixing my own for my indoor ferns

I used to just grab whatever potting mix was on sale at Home Depot, but after my maidenhair fern turned yellow for the third time, I finally tried blending my own with perlite and orchid bark at a 2:1:1 ratio. Now that fern is putting out new fronds every week instead of dying. Has anyone else experimented with custom soil mixes for fussy plants?

Thought AI customer service chat was just hype until I saw it handle 200 angry returns in one day

I've been a store manager for 12 years. When corporate said they were rolling out an AI chatbot for customer complaints I rolled my eyes. Figured it would be another useless program that irritated customers and dumped work on me. But last Black Friday our store got slammed. 200 returns for defective paint sprayers. The chatbot handled all the initial contact, issued return labels, and logged serial numbers before they ever got to me. I only had to deal with 3 escalations. Totally changed my mind. Has anyone else actually seen one of these systems work in a real chaotic retail environment?

Fellow book club member quoted a line that totally flipped my opinion on unreliable narrators

I always hated books with unreliable narrators because they felt like cheating, but then someone pointed out that The Secret History uses it to show how memory actually works, not to trick you. Did it take anyone else a specific quote or moment to change your mind about a book you strongly disliked?
