Switched from PVA glue to wheat paste on my last 3 rebindings and I'm not going back
For my first couple years I used plain PVA for everything, but after a hinge cracked on a 1930s copy of Treasure Island I gave wheat paste a shot. It takes way longer to dry and you have to cook it yourself, which felt like a hassle at first, but the flexibility is night and day. Now I mix it about 60/40 with PVA for spine work. Anyone else here cooking their own paste, or am I just late to the party?
