DAE think peat pots are a scam? My seeds died in them but thrived in old yogurt cups
Three weeks ago I started 12 basil seeds in peat pots and 12 in yogurt cups with holes poked in the bottom, and every single peat pot seedling damped off while the yogurt cup ones are still going strong. Is it the pots holding too much water, or did I just get a bad batch?
Did you also forget to water them for a week like I did with my first batch? Peat pots wick moisture out the sides so they dry out way faster than plastic. My guess is yours stayed soggy and never got air, which is exactly how damping off wins. Wish I could blame the pots but I've killed plenty of seeds in plain cups too.
