Pro tip: stop watering your pothos on a fixed schedule

I kept killing my pothos for like 2 years because I watered every Sunday no matter what. Turns out the plant tells you when it's thirsty, the leaves get slightly droopy and the soil feels dry an inch down. I started checking with my finger instead of following the calendar and my current plant has grown 4 feet since March. It's the same for snake plants too, they can go 3 weeks in winter but only 10 days in summer. Has anyone else found that their watering routine changes with the seasons more than they expected?

The whole "check with your finger instead of following the calendar" thing applies to so much more than plants honestly... waiting for the actual signal instead of just going through the motions. I catch myself doing that with checking my oil pressure light on my truck too, it's been glowing for two weeks but I keep forgetting it's not actually a suggestion.
