The fern I bought at the Asheville farmers market dropped every frond after I moved it 4 feet closer to the window

I assumed more light would help but a guy at the nursery on Haywood Road told me I basically gave it a sunburn, so now I'm misting it twice a day and waiting to see if the rhizome pushes out anything new, has anyone else killed a plant by "helping" it too much?
