Bought a $90 foam roller I barely used and a $2 tennis ball that fixed my back
Dealt with a knot under my left shoulder blade for 8 months. The foam roller was too big and hurt like hell, so it sat in my closet. Then my neighbor who does PT handed me a plain tennis ball and said just pin it against the wall. Two days of that and the knot was gone. Anyone else got a cheap thing that beat the fancy version?
The tennis ball thing is fine but "fixed my back" is doing a lot of work in that sentence. Two days of rolling and an 8 month knot is gone? That's not a knot at that point, that's just a sore spot that was gonna loosen up on its own. I had the same deal with my shoulder and yeah the ball helped but I was also stretching and sleeping better and sitting less, so who knows which one did it. Half the time a cheap tool "works" because you finally started paying attention to the area at all. Still, ninety bucks for a foam roller is nuts, the ball wins on price no question.
