Warning: That $3 lemonade at the Puyallup fair cost me way more than $3
Stood in line 25 minutes for it because the sign said fresh squeezed. Watched the kid behind the counter pull a jug out from under the counter and pour it over ice. Jug had a store label on it. I paid anyway because my daughter was already crying about the heat. Then I bought the $12 refill cup. Then another one. Walked out of there down $30 on lemonade alone. My wife still brings it up when I complain about gas prices. So my question is, what fair or festival food have you paid stupid money for even after you saw exactly how it was made? I need to know I am not the only one who does this.
Paying for it after seeing the store jug is the part I don't get, once you know it's the same stuff you could grab at Safeway for two bucks. Your kid crying in the heat is a real thing though, so maybe that $30 bought you peace and shade for an hour.
The "fresh squeezed" sign should come with a little asterisk that says "freshly squeezed out of a Costco jug." @christopherw34 has a point about the crying kid though, at that moment you'd hand over your car keys for a cup of ice.
