PSA: the $40 laser level I picked up at a pawn shop in Toledo 2 years back
Back in the day we ran string lines and eyeballed everything, but I got lazy on a long garden wall job and grabbed a cheap laser level at a pawn shop in Toledo for $40. First week it was great, dead on with my 4 foot level, but then it started drifting and I laid a course 3/8 inch out of plumb before I caught it. Cost me half a day pulling bricks and resetting, so I went back to the string and the level for anything longer than about 10 feet. Anyone else find these cheap lasers are fine for short runs but can't be trusted over a full wall, or did I just get a dud?
