Can we talk about those expensive foam cannon setups?

I dropped $120 on a high-end foam cannon and pressure washer attachment last spring thinking it would be a game changer for washing my truck. After 6 months of use, I realized my $15 garden sprayer from the hardware store does the exact same job for pre-soaking dirt and grime. Has anyone else made this mistake or am I the only one who fell for the hype?

Ran into an older couple in Osaka who changed how I pack luggage

I was struggling with my giant suitcase at a train station in Osaka last spring when this Japanese couple probably in their 70s came up to me. The husband showed me how he rolls everything - even shirts - into tight little tubes using these mesh bags he got at a 100 yen store. His wife laughed and said they've been traveling with just one carry-on each for 20 years. I switched to rolling everything after that and now I fit twice as much in my bag without breaking the weight limit. Has anyone else tried that mesh bag method or do you just use rubber bands?

Unpopular take: Those fancy new clipper blades are overrated

I was skeptical when my mentor swore by the old style Wahl blades over the ceramic ones everyone's pushing now. After 6 months of testing both on real clients at the shop on 3rd Street, I'm sticking with steel - they cut cleaner and last twice as long. Anyone else find the newer stuff isn't always better?

Rant: That guy who said I should clay bar before polishing was totally right

I skipped the clay step on my 2017 Honda Accord because I figured two bucket wash was enough and ended up spending 6 hours trying to get embedded rail dust and tree sap out of the paint, so has anyone else learned a hard lesson by ignoring that one annoying prep step someone told them about?

That time a data scientist told me to trust the algorithm over my gut

I was helping a buddy set up a hiring filter for his small business in Denver, and this guy from a local tech meetup kept saying just let the algorithm sort resumes by keywords. I went with it for three weeks and we ended up interviewing three people who all lied about their experience on paper. The algorithm couldn't catch the bullsh*t because it just counted buzzwords like 'Python' and 'agile' without any context. Has anyone else found that these systems miss the obvious red flags a human would notice in five seconds?

Wasted $500 on a sales automation tool that did the opposite of what I needed

Last spring I signed up for this fancy lead scoring platform because the demo made it look like magic. Three months in, my team was spending 10 hours a week fixing bad data it generated, tagging prospects wrong and flooding our CRM with junk. The straw was when it sent a high priority alert on a lead that turned out to be a spam bot from some sketchy IP. Has anyone else burned cash on a tool that just made more work instead of less?

Pro tip: Test your bunker's air before you seal it all up

Last month I finished sealing my shelter in the basement, and thought I was done. I sealed the door with that rubber gasket and bolted it shut for a test run. After 45 minutes, my CO2 detector went off like crazy because I forgot to install the manual vent pipe. I had to cut a new 4 inch hole and redo the seal, but now I run a 20 minute air test before I commit to the final caulk. Has anyone else nearly suffocated themselves on a weekend project?

Had to choose between a $15k POS system or sticking with my paper ticket rails from 2003

I picked the paper rails because my Saturday night rush is 200 covers and the new system would have slowed me down, but now I'm having trouble finding anyone under 30 who can read my handwriting - has anyone else dealt with this trade-off?

Threw $600 at a reman injector set that was junk from the box

Three months ago I ordered a set of reman injectors for a C15 from a place out of Texas. They looked fine on the bench, got them installed, truck started and ran rough from the get go. I spent two full days chasing air in the fuel system, swapping lines, checking return line restrictions. Turned out three of the six injectors had bad pop pressures right out of the box. The supplier blamed me for installing them wrong and wouldn't take them back. Lost the $600 for the set plus two days of labor I could have been making money on another job. Any of you guys had luck with any particular reman injector vendor?

Got yelled at by a guy in an RV park for mounting a camera on a tree

Stopped at a KOA in Flagstaff last weekend and zip-tied a trail cam to a pine trunk near my site. Ten minutes later some retired guy comes over saying I'm 'invading everyone's privacy' - in a public campground. Has anyone else dealt with park owners or guests freaking out over basic security?
