Watched a guy butter his head joints on a 90 degree day and the mortar slid right out
I was on a job in Phoenix two weeks back and saw a mason dunk his trowel in water before laying head joints in 104 degree heat. He said the mortar was drying too fast so the water would keep it workable, but all it did was make the mix slide out of the joint and leave gaps. Has anyone else run into guys doing this, and what do you tell them so it actually sticks?
