Why is everyone skipping the step before buttering the wall?
I keep seeing guys in Denver start straight on the mortar bed without wetting the old brick first. My foreman back in 2011 swore by a quick mist, and I've watched joints crack out on two jobs this fall because of it. Is that just old school thinking now, or does it still matter for the long haul? What do you all do before the first trowel hits?
