My grocery store had a choice between fresh basil and a whole plant
I was making pasta sauce last Thursday and needed basil, but the little plastic pack was $3.49. Right next to it, they had a small live basil plant for $4.99. I got the plant, stuck it on my windowsill, and I've already used it for three meals. Has anyone else tried growing herbs indoors to save money?

Nice! Just pinch off the top leaves often, that keeps it from getting tall and weird.

Honestly, that's the smart move. But how do you keep the plant alive long term? I tried that once and it just got all leggy and sad after a few weeks. Are you using a special light or just a sunny window?

My buddy had that same issue, @jamie804. He got a cheap grow light off the web and it totally fixed the leggy thing.
