Serious question, why does everyone skip the dried lentils and go straight for the canned ones?
I was at the Kroger on High Street in Columbus last week and a 1 lb bag of dried lentils was $1.29 while a single can was $1.19. That bag makes about 5 cups cooked, so the canned stuff costs over 4 times as much per serving. I know dried beans take time but lentils cook in 20 minutes with no soaking, so I don't get why people skip them. Anyone have a fast weeknight lentil recipe that doesn't taste like sad soup?
