My uncle the flight attendant told me to always book red-eyes on Tuesday nights

He said you can often snag a whole empty row to stretch out on, plus the fares are like 40% cheaper than Friday afternoons, has anyone else had luck with that or does it just depend on the route?

I read somewhere that airlines actually schedule more red-eyes on Tuesdays specifically because business travelers hate them, so the discount is built in. Had a buddy who flew Denver to Newark on a Tuesday night and had three empty seats to himself, said it was the best sleep he ever got on a plane. But I feel like it probably depends a lot on the route and time of year, some flights are just cursed no matter what day it is.

Red-eye flights are just not worth the hype to me. @amy_west you gotta admit waking up at 3am to catch a plane is its own kind of hell. Sure the airport is quiet but your body clock pays for it the whole week. Tuesday flights might be cheaper but you spend that saved cash on coffee trying to stay awake. Plus good luck sleeping on a plane with the seat not reclining and random people coughing near you. I'd rather pay a bit more for a normal daytime flight and not feel dead the next day. The whole hidden gem thing only works if you can actually sleep on planes which most of us can't.
