The day I stopped paying $40 for airport sandwiches and started packing my own
I used to hit the airport food court every single trip and drop like $15 on a sad soggy sandwich and a drink that cost more than a six pack back home. Then about 2 years ago I was stuck at JFK for 6 hours and spent $42 on two meals and a coffee. That was the breaking point. Now I bring a soft cooler bag with sandwiches, granola bars, and an empty bottle I fill after security. I also started packing instant oatmeal packets and asking coffee shops for hot water for free. My last trip to Chicago cost me maybe $3 in food total. Anyone else got a go to item they always pack to save money at airports?

42 DOLLARS?! Oh my god that is just absolutely WILD. I would have cried right there at the gate. I mean I get that airport prices are always a rip off but that is next level insanity for two meals and a coffee. Honestly good for you for finally snapping, sometimes you just need that one ridiculous bill to wake you up. I bet that sandwich wasn't even good either, probably had that weird plasticky cheese on it.

That sandwich probably cost more per bite than my first car did. I once paid fifteen bucks for a soggy breakfast burrito at O'Hare and sat there chewing it like I was punishing myself for poor life choices. Maybe I need one of those ridiculous bills to finally pack my own snacks, or at least bring a granola bar that costs less than a fancy dinner.

Also the coffee at gate C17 was nine bucks and tasted like they brewed it through a sock. @price.ray you were right about the soggy breakfast burrito, at least your disappointment had some potato in it.
