Cut off my brother after he borrowed $3,000 and ghosted me for 6 months

I lent my older brother three grand to help with his car repair back in March. He stopped answering texts two weeks later and I finally told him not to bother paying me back if he couldn't even talk to me. Has anyone else had family just vanish after owing money?

Six months of silence is honestly impressive commitment to avoiding a conversation, most people cave after like three ignored texts.
