Serious question, should I put my $800 ad budget into Google or into a local newsletter?
I run a small landscaping business in Boise and last month I had $800 to spend on getting new customers. I split it half into Google ads and half into a neighborhood email newsletter that goes out to about 3,000 homes. The newsletter brought in 7 calls, the Google ads brought in 2. Now I have $800 again this month and I don't know which one to go all in on. Anyone run a service business and know if the newsletter thing keeps working or if it just worked once?
Did you track where those 7 calls actually came from though? I used to think Google was the only real way to get customers cause that's what everyone says, but then I watched a buddy run his pressure washing thing and the local stuff way outdid it. People in a neighborhood all talk, so one good landscaping job turns into the neighbor asking who did it. Google gets the folks who are just browsing and price shopping. If the newsletter keeps getting you calls from actual homes near you, that beats clicks all day. Maybe run the newsletter heavy this month and see if it holds up again.
