Stop bragging about impressions when you have no idea what actually sold
Ran a small booth at a craft fair in Portland last month. Watched three vendors next to me posting their follower counts and reach numbers all weekend. But when I asked how many units they moved, nobody could tell me. I track everything on a clipboard, $2.50 cups, $18 totes, all of it. One gal had 40k followers on Instagram and sold maybe 12 items in two days. I had 800 followers and cleared over $900 just by asking people who bought to tell me where they heard about me. Turns out most said they saw a flyer I put up at a coffee shop, not my fan page. That made me realize we are all chasing the wrong metric. The algorithm lies to us. Cash in hand does not. Has anyone else dumped social stats for actual conversion numbers and seen their approach shift?
