TV ads in 2025 still reach more people than my entire email list
I was digging through some industry stats last night, just killing time before a job, and it flat out shocked me that cable TV commercials still hit about 3 out of 4 adults weekly. Meanwhile my carefully built email list of 800 customers gets opened by maybe 20 people on a good Tuesday. I started flooring work in 2009 and back then everyone said digital was the future, so I poured all my marketing into Facebook and Google, never once touched TV. Makes me wonder if we all jumped off a cliff too early, or if those TV numbers are just boomers hoarding remotes. Anyone else find an old-school channel that still outperforms their shiny new campaigns?
3 out of 4 adults weekly" sounds wild, but those numbers usually count anyone who has the TV on in the background while they scroll their phone. My buddy runs a plumbing company and dropped serious cash on local cable spots, and he said most of his calls still came from Google. Meanwhile my email list of 800 gets maybe 30 opens, but those 30 actually buy stuff, like cabinets and vanities, not just watch a 30 second ad and forget it. TV might reach more eyeballs, but reaching people who don't care about you is just paying for noise. I'd rather have 20 people who know my name than 10,000 who can't remember what I sell.
