Spent 11 hours on a linen cabinet last Tuesday and the grain matched on the first try
I've been building a linen cabinet for a lady in Charleston and last Tuesday everything just clicked. Had a walnut slab that I was sure would fight me on the door panels, but I laid out my cuts and the grain lined up like it was drawn that way. Got the dovetails on the top drawer done in under an hour, which never happens for me, and the finish sprayed clean with no runs or dust nibs. Even my wife noticed I wasn't cussing in the shop, which she says is how she knows it was a good day. By quitting time I had the carcass, both doors, and the drawer all dry fit and square within a 32nd. Makes me wonder if I should start writing down what I do differently on days like that, or if it's just luck. Anyone else ever had a project where everything just fell into place and you couldn't figure out why?
