Vent: my internet bill hit $187 a month before I finally caught the 3 add-on fees
Got my bill last week and it was $187.42 for 200 Mbps, which is nuts for my little apartment outside Albany. Sat down with a highlighter and found three separate charges I never signed up for: $12.99 for a landline I don't own a phone for, $8.50 equipment rental on a router I bought myself in 2021, and some $5.99 "network protection" fee that an agent just threw on during a call. Called and asked for a copy of every charge with a date I agreed to it, and the two fees vanished right away when they couldn't find one. The router one they fixed after I read them the serial number off my own box. Has anyone gotten the network protection thing knocked off, or is that one where they just keep saying it's required?
