Almost lost my balance on a 28 ft ladder in Amarillo after my drill bit snapped clean off in a stud
I was running coax through a two story in Amarillo last Tuesday when my 3/4 inch bit snapped off inside a stud and the ladder shifted a good 6 inches on me. I climbed down, grabbed my spare auger bit from the truck, and switched to drilling pilot holes first instead of forcing the big bit through in one shot. Does anyone else pilot hole before running a whole box of bits, or am I just slow?
That ladder shift on a 28 footer is no joke, glad you caught it in time. I always run a pilot hole first, not even for the bit, mostly because forcing a 3/4 through old studs is how you hit a nail or a knot and eat it. Takes an extra minute but beats falling off a ladder in Amarillo.
