Watched a 1970s house in Mesa go from 12 drops to 47 in one weekend and the attic told the story
Did a two day rewiring job in Mesa last month where the family had been limping along on 12 cable drops since the place was built. The dad ran a WFH setup, two kids were gaming, and the wife streamed, so every night around 7pm their whole network would choke out. I crawled the attic and found the original 1978 splitters, all corroded, daisy chained like Christmas lights across the rafters. We yanked all of it, ran 47 fresh drops off a single 8 port amp, and by Sunday night their speed test jumped from 40 Mbps to 940 on the same plan. Three weeks later they texted me a screenshot of a full house stream with zero buffering, and honestly that was worth more than the check. Has anyone else run into these old daisy chained splitter nests, and how do you price the attic crawl when it turns into a full redo?
Those daisy chained splitters have to be the WORST invention in home wiring history, it's like someone looked at a string of Christmas lights and thought "yeah let's do that with coax." The 7pm choke out is basically a free stress test, you already know the whole house is about to suffer. How long did that attic crawl take you, because pricing those surprise full redos is always a gamble.
