Why does nobody talk about marking drops BEFORE the drywall goes up?
I keep running into jobs where the drywall crew finished and nobody marked where the lines run through the studs. Then I'm up in an attic in Elk Grove last Tuesday using a toner and a prayer to find a drop that should've taken 10 minutes, took me 45. Two sides of this: some guys say marking is a waste of time and slows down the rough-in, others say it saves everyone headaches later. I'm on the marking side, a $3 sharpie and 5 minutes per run beats crawling around with a fish tape guessing. But I've had supers tell me it's not in the scope and to just deal with it. Anyone else have a system for this or is it just accepted chaos on most sites?
