That 20 year old backpacking tent tip from a ranger in Glacier still holds up
Back in 2018 a park ranger told me to pitch my tent with the door facing away from the wind, even if it meant a worse view, and I laughed it off until a storm rolled in around 2 AM near Many Glacier. The rain hammered the fly all night but not a single drop got inside, while my buddy's tent facing the lake took on water through the zippers by morning. Has anyone else ignored advice like that and later wished they had listened sooner?
