Why does nobody say how good it feels to wrap up a gear test?

I spent all summer putting my new camp stove through its paces. Writing up the review with photos felt like a real accomplishment. Do you ever get that same sense of pride when you share your gear findings?

aaron_adams' wet bag story finally made me get why people post their gear messes.

Remember testing my new waterproof bag by throwing it in a full bathtub. Felt like a genius until I realized I forgot to close the valve all the way. Spent more time mopping the floor than testing the gear. Still posted the pics of the soggy mess, felt pretty proud of my spectacular failure.

My dry bag test involved forgetting to seal it, so now I'm an expert on wet socks.

You ever get that little voice that says "check the seal" right before you zip it shut? I listen to that now after a similar lake mishap. My trick is to roll the top down three times, press out the air, then clip it. I actually give the bag a gentle squeeze over the sink to test it. It feels silly but dry socks are worth the extra ten seconds.
