Dropped $200 on a personal microphone for campus debates and it completely backfired
Bought a Shure MV7 so people could hear me over hecklers at the free speech plaza, but now the audio quality makes me sound so calm and reasonable that nobody takes my rants seriously anymore, has anyone else had a tool work against them like that?

Man, that sucks but I get it. I had the same thing happen when I switched to a decent mic for my YouTube rants and suddenly my comments went from "you're nuts" to "good point sir." What helped me was playing with the EQ to bring back some edge, or just standing closer and not hiding behind the mic. Kinda funny how sounding too clean can kill your whole vibe.
