Found out my school's free speech zone is literally 2 parking spots, so I measured it myself
I was reading our student handbook for a paper last week and it says protests have to stay inside the designated free speech area on the north lawn. So I walked over with a tape measure on Tuesday and it's about 20 feet by 30 feet, which is smaller than 2 parking spaces. Turns out a policy from 2011 set that size and nobody has touched it since. A few of us are bringing it up at the next student gov meeting with the measurements and photos. Has anyone here actually gotten a school to expand one of these zones, and what worked?
