My 60 dollar stand mixer attachment was a total bust

I bought this cheap pasta maker attachment for my KitchenAid off Amazon for 60 bucks. Used it once to make spaghetti and the whole thing jammed up after a minute. The dough got stuck and the gears started grinding loud. Now the mixer makes a weird clicking noise even without the attachment. Did anybody else have luck with a different brand that won't break the bank?

Hit 100 sourdough loaves baked this morning and it felt weirdly huge

I don't even count normally but my wife pointed out yesterday that my starter is almost a year old and I should tally it up. I found a little notebook I forgot about where I jotted down each bake from last spring. Turns out this morning's loaf was number 100 exactly. That number surprised me because I still mess up plenty like underproofing or a gummy crumb. But it made me realize I've stuck with something tough longer than most hobbies. Has anyone else hit an unexpected milestone like that with a recipe?

Spent $50 on a background check for a date and it saved me big time

I matched with this girl on Tinder who seemed perfect, great job, nice pictures, all that. We talked for a week before I got a weird feeling about some of her stories not lining up. So I paid $50 for one of those online background check sites, figured it was worth it. Turns out she had a felony for fraud and was using a fake name. I dodged that bullet hard, and now I run a quick check on anyone before the first date if something feels off. Has anyone else tried this or do you think it's too much?

Unpopular opinion: I think pre-2000s Caterpillar engines are actually easier to work on than new ones

Used to think the old 3406Bs were dinosaurs until a shop I worked at in Dallas got a 2023 truck in last month. The wiring harness alone took me 4 hours to trace a simple sensor fault, and I'd take a mechanical injection pump rebuild over that headache any day. Anyone else finding the newer emissions stuff makes diagnostics way harder than it needs to be?

Saw my old job listed online last month asking for AI skills now

I worked at a small marketing agency in Austin until last year. I quit because I wanted something different. Last month I checked their job postings out of curiosity and saw my old position. The new listing asked for experience with AI content tools like Jasper and ChatGPT. That was never a thing when I worked there two years ago. Now they expect new hires to handle three times the workload with AI help. Has anyone else gone back to look at old job listings and noticed new AI requirements popping up?

Remember when we used to break down a whole pig with just a bone saw and a good knife?

Now I see guys pulling out a bandsaw for everything and I swear my hands remember the rhythm of the old hand saw way better than any machine could, does anyone else feel like we lost something when the electric stuff took over in the early 2000s?

Found my old Palm Pilot at my parents' house - still had battery life somehow

Was cleaning out the garage last Saturday and dug up my Palm Vx from 2001. It still synced with my old laptop and had notes from a college physics class. Anyone else ever boot up an old PDA and find something weird saved on it?

I finally dumped my old rotary brush after a bad job on Maple Street

Last month I was cleaning a flue on Maple Street and that cheap rotary brush flung soot everywhere, even into the customer's living room. Took me two extra hours to clean up the mess. Has anyone else had a brush fall apart on them at the worst time?

Finally got my garage organized after 3 years in this house

I moved into my place in Airdrie back in 2021 and the garage was just a dumping ground for boxes and tools. Yesterday I spent 8 hours sorting everything into bins and putting up shelves from Costco. Has anyone else here tackled a garage that felt totally hopeless and actually got it done?

Friend told me I was watching anime wrong and it actually helped

I always skipped intros and endings to get through episodes faster, but my buddy pointed out I was missing key story beats and character songs that matter later. He showed me how the second opening of Attack on Titan actually spoils some stuff if you pay attention, and now I watch everything start to finish.
