My uncle's joke at Thanksgiving about his knee replacement had the whole table laughing, then my aunt went quiet
So my uncle Dave is 67 and got a knee replacement back in March, and at Thanksgiving dinner in Sacramento he did this whole bit about being "half robot now" and needing to oil his hinges before bed. Everyone laughed hard except my aunt, who had a hip replacement two years ago and later mentioned that the first few months were actually scary and lonely for her. I laughed in the moment but it stuck with me, so I'm wondering where you all draw the line, is poking fun at surgery recovery fair game as long as the person telling it is the one who went through it?
