A librarian in Columbus let me speak for 3 minutes at a board meeting, and it saved a book display
Last Tuesday I went to the Franklin County library board meeting in Columbus because they had pulled a Pride book display after 11 complaints. I signed up for public comment expecting to get cut off, since the sign said 2 minutes and nobody ever gets extra time. The head librarian looked at the clock, then at me, and said "finish your point" when my timer buzzed. I got to explain that pulling the display did more to spread those books than leaving it up ever did. Three board members changed their vote and the display went back up Friday. Has anyone else had a public comment slot actually go somewhere instead of just getting filed away?
