Fired for a joke I told at a bar in Reno, and I still say the older guy who took it to HR was flat wrong
Back in 2021 I got canned from a warehouse gig in Reno after a coworker told HR about a joke I made off the clock at a bar. The joke was dumb, yeah, but the guy who reported it had said way worse stuff to my face two months before and nobody blinked. Here is the real thing though: the whole crew laughed it off and that one guy decided my job should end over it. Fair would have been him pulling me aside and saying knock it off, not burning my paycheck. Anyone else deal with a coworker who went straight to HR over something small instead of just talking it out?
