My can opener broke mid-prep and the backup was worse
Last night I was two cans in on a chili recipe when my old opener just snapped the gear clean off. I grabbed the dollar store backup and it took me 18 minutes to fight through one can of tomatoes, shredding the lid into little metal bits. Managed to strain out the pieces and finish the pot, but now I'm trying to decide if a $12 opener is worth it or if I should just stick to pop-top cans from now on. Anyone else get burned by a cheap backup right when they needed it most?
