Boss told me to fake a skill on my resume, and the interview was 40 minutes of me sweating
So last Tuesday my boss pulled me aside and said to slap SQL on my resume because "nobody checks anyway," and I needed the pay bump so I did it. Fast forward to Thursday, I'm on a Zoom with a hiring manager in Austin and she asks me to walk her through a join, and I just started describing what I imagined a join looks like, like two lists holding hands. She went quiet for maybe 8 seconds and then said "we'll be in touch," which we both knew was a lie. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I should just tell my boss no next time or actually spend a weekend learning the thing. Has anyone here faked a skill and had it blow up this bad, or did you get away with it?
