Ditched the $400 Festool track saw for a $120 straightedge jig
I bought into the hype and dropped $400 on a track saw last spring for my kitchen cabinet builds here in Boise. Turns out my old circular saw with a homemade straightedge jig does the same cuts within 1/32 of an inch. The track saw sits in my van now, used maybe twice. I hate that I let forums convince me I needed the fancy tool to be a real carpenter. Skip the upgrade until your current setup actually fails you, not your ego. Anyone else regret chasing the brand name when the cheap trick worked fine?
