My first miter box had a hand saw, now I use a power miter saw and I miss the quiet
Back when I started in my dad's garage in Ohio around 1998, I cut every trim piece with a wooden miter box and a backsaw, checking each angle by eye before I glued anything. Now I roll out a 12 inch sliding compound miter saw that cuts in two seconds, but I still keep the old box on a shelf because the power saw throws dust everywhere and scares the dog. Does anyone else still reach for hand tools on small jobs just to skip dragging out the extension cord?

Is skipping the extension cord really worth it when the hand saw takes four times as long? Seems like the dust and the dog are the only real problems here, and a shop vac fixes one of those.
