My new $300 Japanese pull saw is just sitting in my toolbox because I keep grabbing my old Stanley.

I bought it thinking it would change my life, but the muscle memory for my regular saw is too strong, and now I feel like an idiot every time I see that fancy handle.

Why force yourself to use a tool that doesn't feel right? That fancy saw is a different tool for a different job, not a direct upgrade. SusanSingh's idea to force new muscle memory sounds like a good way to ruin a small project out of stubbornness. Your old Stanley works for you because it fits your hand and your way of cutting, that's what actually matters. That three hundred dollar saw might just be a really nice lesson that newer and more expensive isn't always better. Sometimes the right tool is the one you already know how to use without thinking.

Force yourself to use it on one small project, you'll build new muscle memory fast.

Yeah, the "build new muscle memory fast" thing reminds me of my friend who got a fancy new Japanese pull saw. He forced himself to use it on a small bookshelf, and honestly it was a mess. He kept going back to his old saw because the new motion felt so wrong. I kinda agree with nguyen.morgan, it just wasn't the right tool for his hands or how he works. He sold it and went back to his old one, no regrets.
