Spent 3 days fighting a bowed stud, solution was 10 minutes with a wet rag
Roughing in a wall in an old house outside Richmond and kept finding one stud that bowed out nearly half an inch. I tried shims, planing, even a bottle jack contraption that made my foreman laugh out loud. After 3 days of wrestling it, an older guy on site handed me a soaked towel and said to strap it tight overnight. Next morning that pine had relaxed almost completely, and I had my flat wall. Anyone else got a weird wood moisture trick that saved their backside?
