Never using a cheap knee kicker again after that Richmond job

Had a big living room install in Richmond last month and my knee kicker head kept slipping on the tack strip. Took me twice as long to stretch the Sequoia carpet and I still had a wrinkle by the patio door. Swapped to a wider head with more teeth and it grabbed first try. Anyone else had trouble with those knockoff heads from the supply house, or is it just me?

Did you try cleaning the tack strip first, or was it purely the head? I used to think heads were all the same, but that changed real quick.
