Noticed a huge difference in seam quality after switching to a different blade brand

I used to get these tiny fuzzy edges on my seams no matter how careful I was. Switched from the cheap bulk blades to Roberts brand ones about 3 months ago, and the cuts come out clean every time now on this commercial job in Denver. Has anyone else noticed that blade quality makes that big of a difference, or is it just me?

Hmm, I've actually had the exact opposite experience with Roberts blades lately (they're still cutting clean for me).

Funny you mention that, but Roberts blades have gotten worse over the last year. That might be why you're seeing fuzzy edges. They changed their factory or something because the quality control slipped big time. I had to switch to Tarkett blades instead, and those are the ones giving me clean cuts now. Roberts used to be good, but not anymore for commercial work.

Wait, have you guys seen the bulletin that came out from the Flooring Contractors Association earlier this year? They did an actual test on a bunch of blade brands and Roberts came in near the bottom for consistency. I read the whole thing online, it was pretty detailed. They said the steel tempering changed in their newer batches and that's why some people get a clean cut and others don't. It's like you never know if you're getting a good box or a bad one. Tarkett definitely came out better in that report too, so your switch makes total sense.
