Was at a hospital reno in Cleveland, they tore out carpet that looked perfect. Why waste it?
Went to do a quick repair job at St. Vincent's last Tuesday. In the waiting area they were replacing 2,000 square feet of commercial carpet that honestly had maybe 3 years left on it. No stains, no wear at the seams, just the hospital board decided they wanted a different color to match some new chairs.
That stuff gets pulled out and goes straight to a landfill. Meanwhile I've got customers asking me to stretch old carpet to save 200 bucks because their budget is tight.
So here's the thing. Are we as installers responsible for saying something when a client rips out good carpet? Or is that just the nature of the job, we install what they pay for and don't second guess it? Between the waste and the money, where do you all land on this?
