Rant: I trusted the folded $20 in my wallet and it cost me a whole grocery run
I keep a stash of cash in an envelope at home for groceries. About a month ago I pulled out a folded $20 bill I'd been holding for a bit, and the cashier at my local market in Dayton held it up to the light and then handed it back. Said it felt off. I was sure she was being paranoid. I took it to my bank the next morning and the teller said it was counterfeit, no question. Turned out a guy gave it to me as change for a $50 at a yard sale, and I never even looked twice. So now I'm out 20 bucks and I feel like an idiot for not checking. How do you all test bills when someone hands you change in a hurry?
