Warning: My bank locked my card over a $6.75 coffee in Dayton and it took 9 days to fix
Went cashless a few years back like everyone else, tap and go for everything, and honestly most days it works fine. Then three weeks ago I grabbed a coffee at a place on Fifth Street in Dayton, the machine pinged a fraud alert, and my card was frozen before I even sat down. Getting it unfroze meant three phone calls, a trip to a branch, and a faxed form, which is insane when cash would have just worked. Anyone else had a small charge turn into a week plus fight with their bank?
Had this exact thing happen at a gas station in Kettering over a $4.12 bottle of water. Card got shut down on the spot and the guy behind the counter just stared at me like I was trying to pull something. Took me four calls and two trips to the bank because apparently nobody there could figure out why a tiny charge looked shady. The kicker was my mortgage payment went through fine the same week, so their fraud system has some real backward ideas about what's risky. Two weeks of my life gone over water and coffee money.
