Why does nobody talk about cashiers rounding up my total without asking?
At the corner store on 5th, I used to hand over bills and get coins back in my palm. Now the card reader pops up a tip screen and a donate button, and the guy behind the counter said the store keeps 2% of every round up. I just want to pay for my soda and leave. Has anyone figured out how to turn those screens off for good?
Small correction: the store probably isn't keeping 2% of your round up, the card processor takes a cut for the charity thing and the store gets the rest as a tax write off. Turning the prompt off for good usually means the owner has to dig into the terminal settings, so asking the manager directly is your best bet.
