Shoutout to the grandma at the Dollar Tree who told me to stop draining my beans before freezing them
Honestly I used to rinse and drain my canned beans before freezing them and they always came out mushy and sad after thawing. This older lady saw me doing it in my kitchen last month (she's my neighbor) and told me to freeze them right in the can liquid, said it keeps them from drying out. I tried it with 3 cans of black beans and a can of chickpeas, and wow, they held up way better in chili and tacos. Tbh it saves me about $6 a week since I stopped buying fresh beans for quick meals. Has anyone tried freezing other canned stuff this way, like corn or diced tomatoes?
