Spent $300 on a magnetic chimney brush kit and honestly it paid for itself in two jobs
Ngl I was skeptical about the price but that brush saved me from a second trip on a 30 foot flue last month, has anyone else tried magnetic rods on a really crooked run?

That magnetic setup really shines on the crooked ones, especially when you got a offset or two stacked in there. Regular rods just bind up and you end up fighting them the whole way down, feels like your arm is gonna fall off by the time you reach the damper. But the magnet lets you pull from the other end too, so you can kind of walk it through the tight spots instead of just shoving blind. Even saved a buddy of mine on a chimney that had a pretty sharp bend near the top, he was about to call it quits and hire someone out. Once you figure out the trick of not letting the brush get too far ahead of the magnet, it's smooth sailing for sure.

Honestly, that same idea applies everywhere, not just chimneys. Like, I’ve got a buddy who clears gutters, and he swears by using a leaf blower from the ground to push water and gunk forward, instead of only fighting it from the top. It’s all about working with the thing instead of just brute forcing it. Same with when I’m trying to unstick a zipper, sometimes you gotta pull the fabric from both ends, not just yank the pull tab. Once you stop fighting the path and start guiding it, the whole job gets way less annoying. Tbh, most of my life is just learning that lesson over and over.
