inShoutout to the guy who caught my crucible slip before it tipped
Totally agree about finding the source first... we had a mystery puddle for weeks that turned out to be a slow drip from an overhead pipe. Just wiping it up every time was such a waste of effort.

inPro tip: don't cheap out on your immersion blender
Two weeks? That's barely enough time to unpack the box! A whole batch of bisque gone during service is a nightmare scenario. You must have been scrambling like crazy back there. It really shows how a cheap tool can end up costing way more in wasted food and stress. Never worth the risk on something you rely on every day.

inThe great torque wrench debate: do you really need to re-calibrate every year?
Our shop rule is to calibrate every six months, no exceptions. The paperwork is more for the FAA audit than the tool itself. If that cert isn't current, they treat it like the wrench is broken, even if it works fine.

inCoolant checks seemed pointless until my spindle overheated
I used to roll my eyes at coolant checks too, thought it was just busywork. Then my old lathe started this weird ticking sound that turned into a seized pump. Cost me almost a grand to fix, all from low coolant. Now I pop the cap every Friday before I leave, takes two seconds.
