My old studio in Rockford cost $620 and nobody ever honked at 2am

Moved to Chicago 14 months ago for work and now I pay $1,850 to hear my neighbors fight through the wall every night. Has anyone moved back to a smaller town and actually been happy, or did it feel like giving up?

Did you actually like Rockford or did you just like paying less rent? I moved back to a small town two years ago and I'm happier, but that's because I wanted the quiet, not because it's the "right" choice for everyone.
