Serious question, did that guy at the laundromat on 5th actually save me $200?
I was complaining about my $1,850 rent renewal to a stranger while folding clothes and he said he just moves every 14 months to keep the new tenant rate, which runs about $1,600 here. I ran the math on moving costs and it really is cheaper if you don't mind the hassle. Has anyone actually done this or is it a good way to burn a Saturday and lose your deposit anyway?
Skip the hype and actually count the real cost of moving, because boxes, truck rental, time off work, and a new deposit add up fast. Maybe it's just me but the math only works if nothing goes wrong, and something always goes wrong with a move. Sounds like a good way to waste a weekend and still end up paying more.
